FERNANDO JONES’ BLUES CAMP PALM BEACH COUNTY. FLORIDA
Palm Beach County 2023 – Fernando Jones’ Blues Camp comes to Palm Beach County, Florida the week of Tuesday, December 26. Through this priceless, fun-filled experience 30 Blues Kids ages 12 to 18 from across Palm Beach County will learn and perform America’s “root” music in a structured program with like-minded others under the tutelage of highly qualified and internationally traveled instructors. Ten Blues Kids from all over the world will be invited to attend, too. It's also a snapshot of our Summer Blues Camp in Chicago.

How much does the cost?
The selected student musicians will be awarded tuition waiver scholarships.
When and where will it be held?
The camp, which is hosted by KOP Mentoring Network and sponsored in part by the Riviera Beach CDC, will be held at various locations across Palm Beach County from December 29 until January 4. Camp will not be held on January 1.
Who will be the Instructors?
A team of highly qualified and internationally-traveled instructors will teach 30 elementary through high school students the social and historic importance of the Blues, the importance of critical thinking and collaboration, how to read music, improvise, play by ear as well as to perform with confidence at Blues Kids Camp 2022.
How are Blues Kids selected?
Entry is competitive. Beginner, intermediate and advanced placement in ensembles is available. For audition information visit BluesKids.com/EarlyBird.

How can the parents get involved?
We will have Song Blues Mamas & Daddies. This is a concept based on including the entire family. The week will be a nonstop party so why can’t the adults have a piece of the pie, too? If any parent/guardian, volunteer, etc. wants to be in the Blues Mamas & Daddies email us at Info@BluesKids.com. Add Blues Mamas & Daddies in the subject field.
How do I sponsor a child or contribute to the camp?
We are currently seeking support from friends like you who we know have a vested interest in arts education and who, like us, recognize the storytelling and captivating deep soulfulness of The Blues. Internationally known Bluesman Fernando Jones founded Blues Camp, an international program, and established it Monday, July 5, 2010 on the campus of Columbia College Chicago where he is on faculty in the Music Department. Jones said, "It has been a dream since childhood to have a centrally located place where children could come and play the Blues in a user friendly, nurturing environment on a college or performing arts campus."
The Blues Kids Foundation is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. We were established to preserve, perform and promote the Blues among America's youth, parents and educators under the tutelage of highly qualified instructors. Our focus is on education, literacy, social emotional learning and music as a second language.
